Royal Wedding: Charles and Camilla

First, congradulations to Prince Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles!
OK, now back to important business- the oh so important wedding dress of course. Apparently, Camilla had six outfit fittings and 10 hat fittings, and a final dress rehearsal before settling on the final dress.

Outfit by Robinson Valentine. The color is described to be oyster, and the dress is soft. We think this is the perfect outfit for this wedding, and she looks beautiful.

The now Duchess of Cornwall has had many outfits made by the label, Robinson Valentine in the past five years, so they are familiar with dressing Camilla.
“It’s very elegant. It definitely suits Mrs Parker Bowles and she feels relaxed in it. It’s been quite easy because we’ve made clothes for [her] before and we know what suits her,” said Valentine.

Label History of Robinson Valentine
Antonia Robinson and Anne Valentine met at a pattern cutting course in 1985 and established the label, Robinson Valentine in 1986. In 1990, they created their first collection, which consisted of 10 pieces. In 2002, they launched the first Robinson Valentine wedding dress collection. Now that they have designed a wedding dress for a ROYAL WEDDING, the label will be heading for a greater global presence.

Rachel Bilson Google

Rachel Bilson

Rachel Bilson, also known as Summer from the OC, has always been shadowed by Mischa Barton both in and outside the show, character wise or fashion wise. But I think its time we paid some attention to this star. Character wise, I’ve always liked her better then Marissa because even though her family life is not perfect either, she does not whine about it like Marissa and do stupid things, but just takes it as it is. Fashion wise, I think she has a quirky and fun style, which not everyone might like. In fact, sometimes her style is on a very thin line between being a hit or a miss.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.comOn screen she always looks gorgeous and feminine in a quirky sort of way. Like this beeeeautiful BCBG dress she wore to the Newport Magazine launching party. Or this lovely printed jacket she wore at the airport about to go to Sicily from Marciano by Guess. And one must not forget the red Twelfth Street by Cynthia Vincent Blazer she wore when they were stuck in the mall. I LOVE the scruched up sleeves and the short cutting of it.

She looks just as gorgeous off screen, but in a more fun and quirky way that I think reflects her own personal style more. With her ripped jeans and layered clothing and bag, she reminds me of the typical LA celeb look so popular these days. That striped short blazer she wore over her long purple cami and jeans adds layers and pulls the outfit together to look casually chic. And the gorgeous billowing patterned skirt paired with a simple black top is definitely a hit-in a gypsy sort of way.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Although not ALL her outfits are a hit. Some are in fact on a fine line to becoming a miss. Like this white dress she wore to the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Or this printed dress she wore to the Teen Choice Awards 2004, although I do like her jacket. . and perhaps the dress is not ALL bad. Or this overly frilly black dress she wore to the 57th Annual Writers Guild Awards. What do YOU think? A HIT or a MISS?

Ps. In respect of the late Pope John Paul II, we will not be posting tomorrow.

Orla Kiely London Bags Google

Orla Kiely London Bags

While shopping in Urban Outfitters (yet again) yesterday, I noticed a few Orla Kiely bags. I haven’t actually heard of Orla Kiely before, but I realised that I had actually seen them in posh department stores such as Selfridges, so I decided they must be worth investigating.

The Orla Kiely brand was born when Harrods first commissioned Orla Kiely to design a range of hats in 1993, right after her finale spot in her graduation catwalk. In 1994, the Orla Kiely range was presented in London Fashion Week for the first time, and in 1998, it was shown for the first time at Premiere Classe as part of Paris Fashion Week.

Part of Spring/Summer 2005 collection:

This is my favourite bag by this brand. I am definately considering to get it. Unfortunately, it costs 75 pounds.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
This bag also comes in this lime green color and light blue.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The same bag but in a smaller print.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
The bag if you notice more carefully, is a different shape and obviously different print. If you like more geometric prints, then this one is for you.
Orla Kiely bags are not only practical, but also colorful, happy and cute. It will definately lighten up a dull or too formal outfit. It is available at major posh department stores in many countries, so hopefully you will be able to find them!

C&C California Google

C&C California

Below is an ad featuring 3 blonde models wearing literally the same thing in different colors. . . this is the C&C California ad.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I am sure all of you have heard of C&C California even if you don’t live in the west coast, since its all over the fashion magazines and literally all over the nation. I don’t understand WHY they are making such a big deal out of it and WHY they are charging such an outrageous price for something so ordinary and plain.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This classic tee is their signature item. And it is worth $46. I am speechless.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Granted they DO vary their products a bit besides the colors. Through tie-dying. . .

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
. . and widening the neckline. How fascinating.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
The concept of C&C is to create the “Perfect Tee.” It should be “easy and wearable, yet certain to exude a laid back appeal,” and is especially designed to be layered and mixed. These tee’s are certainly all those things stated above. But one can’t help but think that this purpose can be similarly achieved with Gap tees, like this one here. This too is 100% cotton, plus it CAN be machine washed. That is an extra bonus. Who wants a plain ol’ tee that has to be handwashed anyway?

The charm of C&C California obviously escapes me. . . . . .

Spike-a-delic!

In honor of the tenth anniversary of the Andy Warhol Museum, leading designers, artists and celebrities have done sketches of shoes which is being auctioned of on ebay NOW! All proceeds will go to the Warhol’s educational exhibitions and programs fund. Participating designers include some of our favourite people like Manolo Blahnik, Nicole Miller and Ferragamo!!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Andy Warhol himself had a lifetime obsession with shoes, as you can see in this art work of his (which I actually studied last quarter) called “Diamond Dust Shoes” done in the 1980′s. This is one of my favourite works by him, just because it seems to say shoes, shoes and more shoes to me.

Here are some of our favourite shoe sketches . . .

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
Ah the simple sexy red heels. I especially love that it contrasts with the black background. This is done by Paloma Picasso, the daughter of the oh-so-famous Picasso and the designer of the Paloma Picasso jewelry collection at Tiffany’s.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comAnd this one by Narciso Rodrigruez is SO professional that I feel like I am peeking into the process of shoe making!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

But my absolute absolute absolute favourite, has got to be these printed oh-so-cool funky heels done by our favourite shoe maker of all-Manolo Blahnik. These are so cool that they are apparently not on sale on ebay, but will be auctioned lived at the Spike-a-delic gala fundraiser on April 9. So feast you eyes now!

FINALLY, art we can appreciate and love.

CFDA Award 2005 for Fashion Influence: Kate Moss

I was so excited when I read that -*drum rolls* -Kate Moss will be honoured with the Award of Fashion Influence at the Council of Fashion Designers of America’s annual ceremony on June 6. *Squeals and cheers for one of my fav style icons* For those who don’t know, the CFDA awards are equivilant to fashion Oscars awards.

Kate Moss, who is one of the reasons why this season’s trend is boho luxe, and who was just recently voted as best dresser by Glamour magazine, is now 31 years old, but it seems her style is not fading as she ages. Also, Kate has been called a muse by many photographers, including the famous Mario Testino and Nick Knight.

So what qualifies her as a ‘fashion influence’? Simple answer: Whatever she wears hit high street stores a few weeks after she wears it, and everybody, from normal ppl like us to celebrities and fashion experts can not help but want to copy her look. Kate first used Balenciaga bags years before it became so popular last year. The unknown Austrlian UGGs also became famous after being worn by Kate. Kate, who is the queen of THE cool English crowd, names Sadie Frost and Stella Mc Cartney as her best friends.

Get more SLEEP with these. .

A recent survey done by the National Sleep Foundation, shows that three quarters of adult Americans don’t get enough sleep. The average adult American have 6.9 hrs of zzz’s a day, while according to experts adults need a minimum of 7-9hrs a night. Not only will lack of sleep lead to grumpiness and increase in motor accidents as people become drowsy while driving, but to dark cirlces, acne and low metabolism!!!! And so in order to help everyone catch more sleep , we thought these cute night wear would help. . .

Image hosted by Photobucket.comOne can want to look super cute in this bright polka dot Victoria’s Secret matching PJs. . .

Image hosted by Photobucket.comOr you may prefer to look pretty and feminine in a gown, such as this lovely Burberry nightgown and robe.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comMaybe even feminine AND sexy in this Oscar de la Renta chemise. There reallly isn’t any fashion in night wear (not that I know off anyway). At the end of the day, I think it all comes down to comfort and personal preference. Which nightwear do YOU prefer?

Blazer Spring/Summer 2005 Trends Google

Blazer Spring/Summer 2005 Trends

Blazers is another ESSENTIAL item of one girl’s wardrobe. Blazers are the perfect outwear for many occasions, formal and informal. They make a girl look well-dressed, slim and way cool. So you might be thinking, blazers have trends? Yes they do! In fact, I only started noticing this fact this season, so I thought I must share this insight with you all.

This season, blazers are striped: striped by lines of the main color except of a lighter or darker hue, or white. Also, it seems like blue, preferably that particular hue which is lighter than navy blue, is THE color.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Starting with a down to earth selection, this blazer, with the nautical theme in mind, is by Lux from Urban Outfitters.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

One of my favourites here by Free People from Urban Outfitters too. The grey hoodie attached at the back is a great way to look casual and layered without making yourself look puffy.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

A more pricy blazer by Harveys sold at girlshop.com. Notice that having only one button seems to be quite popular.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

A special piece by Anthropologie. It is quite unique, although those with simple taste may not like it.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

Pretty in pink stripes by Marc by Marc Jacobs to celebrate spring!
Oh, and I forgot to mention, blazers this season are also slightly shorter than before. So you can look cute and cool at the same time!

Blouse Trends Spring 2005 Google

Blouse Trends Spring 2005
In every wardrobe, there should be at least one blouse/collared shirt or whatever else you call them (What IS the exact term for it?)). They are essential for work or interviews when you need to dress up and look formal and professional. They are great for casual and works with absolutely anything. They are perfect for layering. But even the wardrobe staple gets a fashionable twist now and then. This season, the trend for the white blouse is to be tucked in, loose, feminine and colorful.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com

Ah, the classical Prada blouse(left). Prada makes the absolute best best best blouse around. It is an absolute MUST have. And the Chloe blouse(right). Although not the best around, one must appreciate the subtle white pattern and the colored details inside making the ordinary blouse stand out. Note that both blouses are loosely fitted and tucked in.

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
Coming away from the traditional white blouse, we have color, stripes and geometry. The Miu Miu blouse (left) is reminscent of the Prada blouse with its traditional loosely fitted cutting. But the geometric print on it definitely gives it some color and extra cool, making it very this season. Paul Smith also makes very good blouses. And the color striped one (right) is very well made indeed. Because besides the cutting, there are also very intricately done, colorful floral edges, giving it a more feminine touch. The bright thin belt on both loosely fitted blouses also adds femininity by emphasizing the “tiny waist.”

Image hosted by Photobucket.comImage hosted by Photobucket.com
Take the blouse even further and knot the blouse like Matthew Williamson’s very colorful one on the left. This method of wearing it, instantly transforms the formal blouse to something very casual and in this case, beachy. Or add on the frills, scrunched sleeves and bows for a very very feminine blouse, like the pink Vuitton one on the right.
Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This Polo Sport white blouse is a good, more realistic, version of the traditional white blouse. I’ve always believed that Ralph Lauren made good blouses, and since Polo Sport is a division of it, the cutting of this should be quite good.
Image hosted by Photobucket.comI also love the Abercrombie blouses. And this one would be perfect for the colorful striped look. I’m not sure about this one, but the one I have, they have gorgoues diamond-like buttons on the sleeves and the inside of the sleeve has polka dot prints on it. So it looks gorgeous both as it is and when I turn my sleeves up.

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
This Anthropology floral blouse is perfect for the colorful floral print look. Besides looking good by itself, just imagine how cool the color would look poking out of a shirt!

Image hosted by Photobucket.com
For the feminine blouse, this Urban Outfitters blouse is perfect. We love the poofy sleeves, the subtle striped pattern and the flair at the hips.
