"Pearl Harbor" star Kate Beckinsale may
follow up that studio epic with the indie feature "Laurel Canyon,"
according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Frances McDormand has previously been announced for the lead in
director Lisa Cholodenko's story about a med-school grad who returns
to Los Angeles with his girlfriend, only to find that his free-spirited
mother has moved back into their family home.
McDormand is to play the mother, Beckinsale would play the girlfriend,
and The Hollywood Reporter said "American Psycho's" Christian
Bale is in talks to star as the son.
Director Cholodenko's resume includes the Ally Sheedy-starring
"High Art."
Beckinsale's other work includes "Brokedown Palace" and
"The Last Days Of Disco". She will next be seen opposite
John Cusack in "Serendipity," which is to open at this
week's Toronto Film Festival. (More
